Leadership skills learnt in primary school can lay the foundations for future leadership opportunities.
At Sacred Heart, we help our students develop leadership skills through formal leadership roles and practical leadership experiences.
Leadership roles at Sacred Heart include:
- School Captains (one girl and one boy)
- Vice Captains (one girl and one boy)
- Colour House Prefects (one boy and one girl for each colour house)
- Liturgy Prefects
- Environment Prefects
- Creative Arts Prefects
- Technology Prefects
- Library Prefects
All year 6 students are “seniors” in their final year and proudly wear their senior badge.
Kindergarten Buddy Program
The Buddy Program is designed to provide support between our senior and kindergarten students by creating friendly and caring school communities.
Year Six stay with their buddy at lunch time and recess until they have formed their own friendships, understand the playground rules and games and are able to organise and eat their lunch independently. Each year our school welcome new Kindergarten children to Sacred Heart. As part of our Leadership program Year Five students meet the upcoming Kindergarten children and their allocated buddy at the School Orientation Day and then again on the first day of school and assist their transition to school.
Year Six love this responsibility and look forward to helping to create and safe and nurturing environment at school for their buddies.
